3T Coronary MRA using 3D Multi-interleaved Multi-echo Acquisition and VARPRO Fat-water Separation

چکیده
Introduction: Coronary MR Angiography is a valuable tool for non-invasive assessment of coronary arteries. Presently, contrastenhanced, fat-saturated, ECG-triggered and navigator-gated 3D spoiled gradient-echo sequence is employed for whole-heart Coronary MRA at 3T. However, large static field variations at 3T frequently result in non-uniform fat-suppression over the field-of-view (FOV), obscuring the delineation of coronary arteries. Multi-echo Dixon approaches utilizing iterative decomposition have been shown to provide robust fat-water separation even in the presence of large field inhomogeneities. In this study, an ECG-triggered navigator-gated 3D spoiled gradient-echo multi-interleaved multi-echo (GRE-MEMI) pulse sequence is introduced which utilizes VARPRO fat-water separation to achieve reliable fat-suppression and provides enhanced visualization of coronary arteries.

Target volume coronary MRA revisited: usefulness of non-rigid reregistration of multi-frame 3D MRA acquisitions at 3T
Background Free-breathing whole-heart coronary MR angiography (MRA) is an established method that can visualize all coronary arteries within a single acquisition. However, a long acquisition time and suboptimal arterial signal due to thick SLAB are major limitations of 3T gradient-echo whole-heart coronary MRA without contrast. Alternatively, target-volume coronary MRA can be used to visualize ...
متن کاملSelf-Gated Free Breathing 3D Coronary Cine Imaging With Enhanced Artery Contrast by Exploiting the Simultaneously obtained Water and Fat Visualization
INTRODUCTION In this work, a respiratory and cardiac self-gated free-breathing 3D cine SSFP imaging technique is proposed utilizing multiple echo acquisitions to separate water and fat for optimal visualization of the coronary arteries. Multi-echo hybrid radial sampling has been shown to have a high data acquisition efficiency and a high robustness to motion. By frequently acquiring the k-space...
متن کاملVirtual chemical inversion - a novel fat suppression technique for T1-weighted cardiac imaging with improved delineation of the fat-myocardium interface
Background Fat-saturation and T1-weighting are fundamental for tissue differentiation, but combining these techniques is challenging. For instance, standard chemically selective saturation (CHESS) pulses provide insufficient fatsuppression with routine delayed enhancement imaging [1]. Fat-water separation using multi-echo Dixon techniques can robustly separate fat and water into individual imag...
متن کاملSelf-Gated Free-Breathing 3D Coronary CINE Imaging with Simultaneous Water and Fat Visualization
The aim of this study was to develop a novel technique for acquiring 3-dimensional (3D) coronary CINE magnetic resonance images with both water and fat visualization during free breathing and without external respiratory or cardiac gating. The implemented multi-echo hybrid 3D radial balanced Steady-State Free Precession (SSFP) sequence has an efficient data acquisition and is robust against mot...
متن کاملCardiac Imaging with Chemical Shift Based Water-Fat Separation at 3T
Introduction Chemical shift based water-fat separation techniques have been demonstrated for 1.5T cardiac imaging of several pathologies, including fatty infiltration of chronic infarction; arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC); fatty tumors; and conditions such as myocarditis and pericarditis [1-4]. Higher field strengths (3T) are now often used in cardiac MRI due to improved ...
